Pulsed-neutron Logging Tools

SITAN Pulsed-neutron logging tool mainly bases on the theories of inelasticity(n.n’), elastic scattering (n.n), capture reaction (n.r) and nuclear reaction through high-speed neutron's nuclear reaction in the layers. This technology reflects carbon and hydrogen' abundance in the layers by detecting secondary ray by their inelasticity and capture reaction. Based on the degree of those carbon and hydrogen elements, solve oil remaining problem by their ratio.



Application

1. Adapted to high to low porosity, high to low salinity formations.

2. Adapted to arious types of hydrocarbon reservoirs and lithological profile(sand mudstone, conglomerate, metamorphic rock, carbonate).

3. Adapt to coal exploration (looking for coal-bed methane, coal thickness, distinguish coal property).

4. Evaluate reservoir(production) layer oil or residual oil saturation and flooding degree of oil reservoir. Used for block evaluation of remaining oil distribution.

5. Monitor and evaluate the displacement speed, dynamic state of edge & bottom water and oil & water interface.

6. Supply effective information for water plugging, finding missing oil layer, dynamic analysis for reservoir.

1. CHR logging mainly controlled by oil saturation, barely influenced by porosity and mineralization.

2. Good application : Coincidence ≥85%

3. All data is reliable and accurate: 

   Saturation of oil (So) error ≤±8%, Coincidence ≥85%; Flow water ratio (Fw) error ≤±8%, Coincidence ≥85%

4. Wide application range: Available for high~low hole, High~low permeation, high~low mineralization reservior and other oil reserviors.

Case study

Effective porosity 8-13%, low porosity and permeability, low-medium salinity, Jurassic sandstone.

FCH interpretation

Layer 1:Sw63.4%、Swi36.6%、Fw94%. Strong water cut.

Layer 2:Sw63.9%、Swi37.7%、Fw96%. Strong water cut.

Layer 3:Sw63.5%、Swi38.5%、Fw94%. Strong water cut.

Results:Perforate layer 1,2,3  segment, commingle water ratio 96%, plugging layer 3 with water ratio 94%.

FCH interpretation is the same as formation test.
